Comprehensive Plans
The process of creating a new plan or updating an existing plan is an extensive process that involves site visits, interviews with community stakeholders, public meetings, land use mapping, and research of demographic, economic, and other pertinent information. A comprehensive plan identifies the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats that a community faces. It provides an analysis of factors that are influencing the local economy and quality of life. The plan identifies existing and future land uses and gives officials and the public an opportunity to play an active role in determining how they would like to see their community grow. Action items and goals for the community are listed in the plan. The plan serves as a guide for local decision makers.
Our professional staff at North Central Illinois Council of Governments (NCICG) will guide your community through the process every step of the way. We will work with your elected officials, municipal staff, attorney, and planning and zoning commission to prepare a plan that will be the foundation of your community for years to come. Upon completion, NCICG will present the plan to your board or council for approval and adoption.
Comprehensive plans were recently completed by NCICG for the Village of DePue, the Village of Coal City, and the City of Marseilles. Additionally, NCICG partnered with Ginko Planning and Design, Inc., Orland Park, Illinois to update the City of Ottawa’s comprehensive plan. Please contact NCICG
